New York Charitable Organization uses Music to Help People with Autism Spectrum Disorders

The Pro Bono Cause

The HALI Foundation is a New York not-for-profit corporation with a mission to provide programs that  enhance the lives and functioning of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and other learning challenges, and their families.

Its founder, Seth David Walter, began his career as a musician and composer before becoming a volunteer and then a teacher. He draws upon his love of music in his professional ASD-related work, which focuses on helping individuals with ASDs deal with frustration, manage behaviour, feel a sense of accomplishment and interact socially in a positive way.

The HALI Foundation is a recently formed charitable organization that held its first fundraising effort in April 2015 with a celebration of six special performers as a way of shining a spotlight on creative achievement.

Proceeds went to five area schools – schools the Foundation considers among the finest in the nation in their use of advanced teaching methods to help students with ASDs develop mastery of real world skills.  And the Foundation hopes to help other educational institutions with music/art instruction that is so critical to the personal growth of ASD students.
