Sandy’s practice is focused on all aspects of commercial property transactions, including the acquisition, disposition and financing of commercial real estate, and leasing of office, industrial and retail space.  Sandy is experienced in acting for property owners with respect to title-related work for their real estate portfolios, such as land conveyances, easements and operating agreements, shared services agreements, and other registrations associated with property development projects.  Sandy also provides real estate advice to corporate acquisitions, reorganizations and equity offerings.

    • Target Canada Co. in connection with its wind down of operations in Canada, including the auction and sale of its interest in retail sites and three distribution centres located across the country
    • Ventas, Inc. on its $980 million acquisition of 29 independent living seniors housing communities across Canada from Holiday Retirement Corp.
    • Sabra Health Care REIT, Inc. on its $170 million acquisition of 9 independent living seniors housing communities with options to purchase two additional independent living facilities across Canada from BayBridge Seniors Housing
    • DREAM Alternatives on its acquisition and financing of various solar projects throughout Ontario
    • Chorus Aviation Inc. on its $80 million acquisition of Voyageur Airways, a private company based in North Bay, Ontario
    • Magna International Inc., in connection with its acquisition of the new headquarters in King City and various other acquisitions and land development and dispositions
    • General Motors of Canada Limited, in connection with its sale of manufacturing facilities in St. Catharines for redevelopment
    • Irving Oil, in connection with its convenience store/gas station joint venture with Couche-Tard and restaurant franchises
    • Bulk Barn Foods Limited, on its sale of its former head office in Richmond Hill
    • Leases for KPMG, J.P. Morgan Chase, Callisto Capital, Lexmark Canada and various hospitals and not-for-profit organizations
