According to the FP Dealmakers Legal report, total transaction value of combined equity and debt offerings in Canada in 2023 was $199.7 billion represented by 269 deals. As noted by Osler’s Rosalind Hunter, partner and Co-Chair, Capital Markets in a recent article in The Globe and Mail, while 2023 was a slow year for IPOs, there is renewed optimism broadly in the markets about deal activity in 2024.
