Osler is pleased to welcome David Jacyk as a partner and the Head of our Vancouver-based Tax Litigation practice. David brings more than 23 years of experience as Crown counsel in Canada and New Zealand. He served as General Counsel of the Department of Justice of Canada (Vancouver) for approximately 10 years and, most recently, with the Crown Law Office/Inland Revenue in New Zealand. Having argued numerous cases before the Tax Court of Canada and at all levels of Canadian courts, he is well-versed on disputes affecting corporate taxpayers and has deep and varied experience in litigating tax cases for the Crown. David has also argued a wide variety of complex cases involving civil litigation, customs and anti-dumping, bankruptcy and insolvency, judicial review, constitutional and other matters.

In today’s changing litigation landscape, access to strategic and experienced tax law counsel is imperative to mitigate the impact of tax controversies. Osler has a premier tax litigation practice in Canada and is counsel on numerous significant tax cases. We are dedicated to having the right resources in place to meet our clients’ evolving needs. Together with Marshall Rothstein C.C., Q.C. and Karen Sharlow, the addition of David to our tax litigation team at Osler further strengthens our practice in Vancouver and our national platform.
