Blair Wiley named to the OSC’s Securities Advisory Committee

Osler is very pleased to announce that Blair Wiley, a partner in the firm’s Corporate Group, has been named to the Securities Advisory Committee of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) for the next three years. The Securities Advisory Committee provides advice to the OSC and its staff on a variety of matters, including legislative and policy initiatives, important capital markets trends and other relevant issues. The OSC invited applications for the four available positions on the Committee in November 2017 and published the names of the new Committee members on January 11, 2018.

Blair practises in the area of corporate and securities law, with a particular emphasis on regulatory matters relating to trading securities and derivatives. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions by financial services firms, and regularly advises Canadian and foreign investment banks, securities dealers, stock exchanges, asset managers, pension funds and other institutional investors on securities and derivatives compliance matters.

Blair joined Osler in 2006 and spent six months on secondment to the Canadian Securities Transition Office in 2011 where he contributed to the development of harmonized derivatives regulations for a proposed national securities regulator. He became a partner in the firm’s Toronto office in 2016.
