Osler is proud to announce that our lawyers have played a pivotal role in two of this year’s most transformational developments in the Calgary Real Estate market - the BMO Centre Expansion and the Calgary Event Centre Development, once again showcasing our expertise and market leadership.

In the first transaction, led by Rob Housman and including Riley Whitlock, Bryce Kustra, Luke Stretch (Real Estate); Elliot Smith (Construction) and Paula Olexiuk (Construction), Osler’s team acted for Calgary Municipal Land Corporation in connection with the new $550 million Calgary Event Centre in a transformative deal that will create a cornerstone in Calgary’s culture and entertainment district. This new entertainment complex will provide a significant opportunity for private sector investment and the development of under-used lands, and will also help further Calgary’s economic recovery and resilience, solidifying Calgary’s place as a major destination for visitors from around the world. In the second transaction, led by Rob Housman, and including Riley Whitlock, Osler advised Calgary Municipal Land Corporation in its $500 million agreement with the Calgary Stampede and the City of Calgary to build an addition to the existing BMO Centre, effectively becoming Canada’s second-largest convention centre facility. The expansion project is supported through equal contributions from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and City of Calgary. BMO Centre will essentially double its rentable space and will also give Calgary top-tier destination status in the competitive international meetings and conventions market. Read more here.
