Osler congratulates partner May Cheng on being featured by the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers Ontario (FACL Ontario) in its Inclusive Leaders Showcase 2018. The FACL Ontario recognition highlights the inclusive efforts within and outside of the legal community made by pan-Asian Canadian lawyers in Ontario.

May, a partner in Osler’s Intellectual Property Group in Toronto, is a Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property Law (Trade-mark/Copyright) and actively volunteers in the Chinese community. She served on both the national and Toronto chapters of the Chinese Canadian National Council (CCNC), and recently helped organize a Diverse Champions for Diversity pitch event.

May explains why inclusiveness is so important to her, adding that she appreciates Osler’s commitment to diversity.

“I honestly believe that inclusion brings the best and the brightest to the table, and makes us a better firm and a better profession,” May tells FACL. “I also feel that inclusion can be rewarding for everyone … Inclusion is not about conformity, it’s about embracing differences and accepting people the way they are, with their perspectives.”

FACL Ontario is a diverse coalition of Asian Canadian legal professionals working to promote equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian Canadian legal professionals and the wider community.
