Osler is proud to announce that Brad Newby has assumed the role of Managing Partner of the firm’s Vancouver office, effective January 1, 2026.
A well-recognized and experienced lawyer in British Columbia’s business community, Brad’s practice focuses on advising corporations, private equity firms, family offices and entrepreneurs regarding a range of business transactions and situations. He has guided companies through acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, financings, strategic alliances, leveraged buyouts, fiduciary obligations and shareholder relations. Brad will continue his full-time practice and continue to support his clients while also serving as Vancouver Managing Partner.
“Brad is a nationally recognized, client-focused, energetic and practical problem solver. His deep understanding of the British Columbia market across a wide range of industries has made him a favoured corporate advisor to B.C. business leaders and beyond. We are delighted to have Brad at the helm to help guide our Osler Vancouver team into the future,” says Maureen Killoran, KC, National Co-Chair of the firm.
Throughout his career, Brad has worked with a wide range of industries with concentrations in food and beverage, retail and consumer products, financial services, and professional services. Before joining Osler in 2023, Brad was a partner at a prominent regional law firm.
Brad succeeds Mark Longo, who founded the firm’s Vancouver office in 2015 and led the office as Managing Partner from inception to the end of his term on December 31, 2025. Mark will continue to lead Osler’s market-leading Emerging and High Growth Companies practice nationally as Co-Chair and will continue to focus on his busy legal practice specializing in venture capital and growth equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, startup formation and corporate governance for technology companies, while playing a leadership role in Canada’s technology ecosystem.
“Over the past 10 years, we have grown the Vancouver office rapidly and built a stellar reputation for working on nationally and internationally significant transactions and cases. We have expanded our service offering to many industries and built a full-service office comprised of excellent lawyers and team members. In this next chapter, Brad is the right person to lead Osler’s Vancouver office. His client-centric approach and outstanding leadership qualities will build on the growth of our office and ensure its continued success,” Mark says.
“We are grateful to Mark for his incredible leadership and the entrepreneurial spirit he brought to building the Vancouver office. He guided the office through transformational growth and he had a material impact on the culture and direction of our firm,” says Maureen.
Osler’s Vancouver office is a full-service team of over 130 professionals, including 65 lawyers, helping B.C., national and international businesses thrive and specializing in practice areas across corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate finance, capital markets, technology, intellectual property, mining, litigation, real estate, insolvency, tax, employment and labour, and banking.
