Emma Stirling

Emma Stirling

Emma is an associate in the Regulatory, Indigenous, and Environmental Group. Her practice focuses on project-related natural resource development, environmental law and energy regulation, as well as administrative and Indigenous law issues.

Emma acts for a variety of electricity and natural resource project proponents in regulatory proceedings to obtain approvals for major projects. She regularly supports the development of projects in the solar, battery storage, electricity transmission, and pipeline sectors. She also has experience in corporate and commercial litigation involving matters of private and public law. Emma has assisted clients with matters before the Canada Energy Regulator and the Alberta Utilities Commission.

Emma earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in Spring of 2024. She served the university community as a volunteer with Student Legal Services, the Women’s Law Forum, and as a Student Mentor. In her first year, Emma showed was the co-recipient of the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin Moot Award. After joining the UAlberta Law mooting team in her second year, she went on to represent the school at the Gale Cup and was part of the winning team in 2024 at the Wilson Moot, also earning a Third Place Oralist award.

In her third year, Emma also worked as a Writing Fellow for the 1L Legal Research and Writing program. Emma was recognized by her peers for her school community work and academic achievements by being named Class Valedictorian. Upon graduating, Emma clerked at the Court of King’s Bench in Calgary.
