Osler congratulates National Co-Chair Maureen Killoran, KC, and partners Mary Buttery, KC, Laura Fric and Teresa Tomchak on their recognition in the 12th edition of Benchmark Litigation Top 100 Women in Litigation – Canada for 2025.

This annual honour celebrates Canada’s leading female litigators who consistently handle complex, high-profile cases and earn the respect of clients and peers through their legal excellence and courtroom skill.

Earlier this year, 31 Osler lawyers were recognized in the 2025 Benchmark Litigation Canada Guide.

Meet our 2025 honourees:

Mary Buttery, KC

A partner in Osler’s Vancouver office, Mary focuses on commercial litigation, insolvency and restructuring, class actions, fraud, and enforcement of foreign judgments. She has appeared before all levels of court, including as lead counsel at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Laura Fric

Laura practises in Osler’s Toronto office and is known for her work in trial, appellate, and class action matters. She advises clients on complex commercial disputes, regulatory investigations and litigation strategy, often acting as lead counsel in high-stakes cases

Maureen Killoran, KC

As the National Co-Chair at Osler, Maureen practises from both the Vancouver and Calgary offices. She is a seasoned trial and appellate counsel with a national litigation practice focused on complex commercial and resource-sector disputes. She frequently appears in regulatory appeals, constitutional and environmental matters, and Indigenous claims in courts across Canada.

In May, Maureen was named Energy/Resources Litigator of the Year at the 2025 Benchmark Canada Awards.

Teresa Tomchak

Based in Vancouver, Teresa’s practice focuses on securities litigation, regulatory matters, and class action defence. She represents clients in shareholder disputes, proxy battles and enforcement proceedings before securities regulators across Canada.
