Osler welcomes back Laura Scheim, who joins the firm’s Tax Group as a partner in the Montréal office, with expertise in commercial and tax litigation.

She adds significant expertise and depth to our leading national tax practice.”

Laura has represented clients before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Québec Court of Appeal and the Tax Court of Canada. She advises private and public companies, as well as individuals on tax audits and disputes, and offers deep expertise in interpreting and applying tax legislation. Laura offers rare and highly specialized expertise in Canada in alternative fee structures, contingent risk assessment, ATE insurance strategies, and litigation and judgment enforcement funding solutions, helping clients approach complex disputes with greater financial clarity and strategic flexibility.

In addition to her experience as a member of the Osler tax group, Laura’s professional background includes serving as legal counsel and in investment management at a publicly traded global legal finance company, as well as clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Michael J. Moldaver and at the Québec Court of Appeal for Justice Allan R. Hilton. She also completed CPA Canada’s CICA In-Depth Tax Program.
