Osler National Co-Chair Shahir Guindi appointed Chair of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal

Osler is pleased to congratulate National Co-Chair Shahir Guindi on being appointed Chair of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal for 2019-2020. The announcement was made in a press release on October 30, 2019. The nominating committee announced the appointment during the Chamber’s annual meeting with almost 200 members, major partners and guests in attendance. Part of his duties as Chair will involve working closely with the Chamber’s senior management and the business community, and providing strategic insights, while being involved in the Chamber’s key activities.

Shahir, a member of Osler’s Partnership Board, has deep connections to the business community in Montréal and elsewhere. He was Managing Partner of the firm’s Montréal office for seven years before being named National Co-Chair. He has over 25 years of experience as a distinguished and trusted advisor in M&A, private equity and corporate finance. His private equity and venture capital experience includes advising funds on their domestic and cross-border portfolio investments and divestitures and on their fund formations. Shahir also acts for a number of the country’s most successful technology and biotechnology companies.

Shahir sits on the Board of Directors of the Business Development Bank of Canada, GFL Environmental, and Jubilant Draxis Pharma. He is consistently recognized for his legal expertise by leading industry publications such as Chambers CanadaLexpert, Best Lawyers, and more. In 2017, the Quebec Bar conferred on him the Advocate Emeritus distinction. 

The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal’s mission is to “act as the voice of Montréal’s business community and to promote the prosperity of the city and its businesses,” and is involved in key areas of economic development in the city.
