Osler is pleased to welcome Iris Tam as a partner in our Real Estate Group based in Toronto, complementing our fully integrated national team of experts and giving our clients access to yet another trusted advisor with a broad range of experience. Iris has a diverse practice, encompassing complex corporate-commercial matters and all aspects of commercial real estate.
Iris brings more than 20 years of experience both as in-house counsel and in private practice, and has advised on a wide range of commercial real estate transactions over her career. Most recently, Iris was senior legal counsel at Metrolinx, acting as lead real estate counsel on major infrastructure projects across Ontario. Prior to this, Iris was a partner at a major Canadian law firm advising on several landmark acquisitions and dispositions, real estate financings and development projects. She also has extensive experience managing real estate litigation matters before the Ontario Superior Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, including overseeing hearings and settlement discussions.
Iris understands the unique challenges our clients face when navigating large projects in the Canadian real estate sector and is known as a pragmatic problem-solver and skilled negotiator. Her background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements with governmental authorities, municipalities, utilities and telecommunication companies will be valuable for our clients.
