Osler is proud to announce the addition of 11 new partners and one new counsel across three of our offices, effective March 1.

New partners

Toronto

The Toronto office welcomed seven new partners: Steven Dickie (Employment and Labour), Carly Fidler (Litigation), Vanessa Hansford (Corporate), David Jamieson (Corporate – Emerging and High Growth Companies), Jon Marin (Pensions and Benefits), Karin Sachar (Litigation), and Patrick Welsh (Litigation).

Steven’s practice involves providing business-critical advice on workplace law matters and representing employers in wrongful dismissal litigation, human rights applications, labour arbitrations and before various administrative tribunals.

Carly’s practice includes business-critical litigation and dispute resolution matters, with experience in large complex commercial disputes, contractual disputes, construction and infrastructure disputes, and tax litigation.

Vanessa practises in the area of corporate and securities law, with a particular emphasis on corporate finance and securities, asset management, investment fund and securities regulatory matters.

David’s practice focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate/commercial matters, with a particular emphasis on the representation of emerging and high growth companies (throughout their lifecycles), the venture capital, growth equity and private equity funds and other investors that finance them and the strategic acquirors who buy them.

Jon practises exclusively in the pensions and employee benefits law area where he provides advice on legal and regulatory issues affecting all aspects of provincially and federally regulated pension plans and other employee benefit plans.

Karin has a wide-ranging commercial litigation practice, with expertise in class actions, securities litigation, product liability matters, broker-dealer disputes, and insolvency and restructuring.

Patrick provides practical advice and solutions to businesses on a wide range of matters related to the environment and environmental laws. He has experience in regulatory proceedings before the Ontario Energy Board and he has appeared before various levels of court, including the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.

Montréal

Julien Morissette (Litigation and Insolvency and Restructuring) is our new partner in Montréal. Cross-appointed to both the Litigation Group and the Insolvency and Restructuring Group, his practice is diversified and includes commercial, administrative and constitutional litigation, investigations as well as corporate restructuring and insolvency proceedings for both debtors and creditors.

Calgary

Our Calgary office welcomed three new partners: Olivia Dixon (Litigation), Dana Saric (Banking and Financial Services), and Justin Sherman (Corporate).

Olivia is a corporate and commercial litigation lawyer with a primary focus on energy litigation, construction litigation and international commercial arbitration. She has appeared before the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench, the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, the Federal Court of Appeal and in various alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including domestic and international arbitration and mediation.  

Dana’s practice focuses on project development and finance and on corporate lending in the oil and gas production, renewable energy, pipeline and rail transportation, electrical power and infrastructure sectors. She has experience with energy project development, mergers, acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, construction, hedging arrangements, and more.

Justin’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and general corporate matters. He has experience acting for underwriters and issuers in domestic and cross-border debt and equity offerings, including initial public offerings, shelf and short form prospectus offerings and private placements.

New counsel

Osler is proud to announce the admission of Aislinn Reid (Litigation) to the role of counsel, based in Toronto.   

Aislinn has both a broad commercial litigation practice and specialized expertise in health advocacy. Within her commercial litigation practice, Aislinn is particularly experienced in franchise litigation, contractual disputes and class actions.
