The latest’s developments of our monthly Indigenous Law Insights webinar series. In this session,  Deirdre Sheehan, partner and Co-Chair of the Regulatory, Indigenous, and Environmental Group, explored the importance of meaningful consultation with Indigenous groups and a recent decision which emphasized that the Crown’s duty to consult required substantive engagement on all relevant issues, including economic feasibility, before approving projects that may impact Indigenous rights and territories.

Additionally, Cole Tavener, associate, analyzed the Canada Indigenous Loan Guarantee Corporation, a commitment by the federal government to provide Indigenous loan guarantees, which aimed to assist Indigenous groups in becoming equity partners and owners of natural resource and energy projects.
