SUMMER & ARTICLING PROGRAMS

Vancouver Programs

Student Program

Osler’s Vancouver office opened in August 2015 with four legal professionals and a focus on emerging & high growth companies. Today, our Vancouver team includes more than 50 legal professionals who advise on every aspect of business law at the local, national and international levels. We are a full-service office with a continued strong presence in emerging & high growth and several other practice areas that include corporate commercial law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, banking & financial services, securities, mining, commercial real estate and tax. Our growth strategy focuses on both strategic lateral hires and a strong student program.

Located in a brand-new space at Bentall Four Centre in the heart of beautiful downtown Vancouver, our office offers the resources of a national firm with the collegiality of a mid-size office. Our size makes it possible for students to get to know all of our lawyers and staff and our legal professionals make a point of including students in every aspect of their practices.

Our student pipeline is an important part of our growth strategy and we are committed to growing our Vancouver team through our summer and articling programs. Our students work with some of Canada’s most respected lawyers across a variety of practice areas. Students are involved in all stages of our client work and have the opportunity to make a real contribution to our team.  Our programs are designed to challenge students in an encouraging atmosphere where they can thrive. We strive to provide an open, supportive and professional learning environment where exceptional students can grow into exceptional lawyers.

Summer and Articling Programs

With a focus on practical training, professional development and student feedback, our non-rotational summer program is designed so that you can pursue your areas of special interest, while gaining broad experience across our key practice areas.  Our rotational articling student program provides you with a structured opportunity to further explore our practice areas with flexibility to pursue an area of particular interest in more depth.

Training and Mentorship

All summer and articling students are partnered with a partner principal, a senior associate mentor and a junior associate mentor. A three-tiered mentorship structure allows you to seek guidance from leading lawyers while also maintaining valuable relationships with junior lawyers who have recently navigated the student process themselves. All students participate in a comprehensive professional development program to build critical substantive legal and practice management skills.

Social Networking

You will have the opportunity to attend (and even organize) fun firm events and extracurricular activities. In the past, these have included a Whitecaps soccer match, kayaking in False Creek, wine tasting, a firm-wide Dim Sum lunch and the Osler Aces Volleyball Team.
