Madeleine obtained her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School. She graduated in the top 3% of her class with several academic honours, including the IP Osgoode David Vaver Medal for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law and course prizes for highest academic standing in property law and civil procedure.
While at Osgoode, Madeleine was a caseworker in the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic, the Osgoode Investor Protection Clinic, and participated in the Advanced Business Law Workshop: Mergers & Acquisitions. She was also a research assistant for Professor Poonam Puri, researching various areas of corporate law, including shareholder remedies, corporate governance, and securities regulation.
Madeleine was actively involved in mooting throughout law school, representing Osgoode at the national level as an oralist at the 2022 Gale Cup Moot and the 2023 Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot, where she received the Gordon F. Henderson Award for Best Respondent Factum. Madeleine also received a top oralist award at an Osgoode-wide mooting competition and a second place oralist award at the Cassels Brock Cup.
Madeleine’s research papers were selected submissions at the 2022 and 2023 Osgoode Hall Law Journal J.D. Research Symposia. At the 2022 symposium, she presented her paper “Should Humans Get Credit for a Bot’s Work?” regarding the copyrightability of content generated by autonomous artificial intelligence. The following year, she presented her research paper that explored issues at the intersection of corporate law and human rights.
Prior to attending law school, Madeleine worked in the Office of Mergers & Acquisitions at the Ontario Securities Commission.
