Stay current with the latest developments in Indigenous law and policy across Canada by tuning into Osler’s Indigenous Law Insights, a monthly 30-minute webinar series designed for legal and business professionals.

In our October session, Richard King, partner and Co-Chair of the Regulatory, Indigenous and Environmental Group will discuss Mohawk Council of Kanesatake v. Sylvestre. In this recent decision of the SCC, the Court considered whether a prescription period under the Civil Code of Québec for a creditor’s right to seize band property was interrupted by a notice of execution and the applicability of s. 89 of the Indian Act. Robyn Graham, associate in the Disputes Group, will present on Mikisew Cree First Nation v. Alberta, a recent decision of the Alberta Court of Appeal which confirmed that a legal challenge to Alberta’s regime for Crown-Indigenous consultation on oil sands and other development proposals could proceed.

Each of our Indigenous Law Insights webinars provide timely and practical information on what these developments mean for your business.
