Osler is proud to announce that Maureen Killoran, KC, has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), widely considered to be the premier professional trial organization in North America. The College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship is extended by invitation only, and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism, civility, and collegiality.
Maureen, a nationally recognized senior Litigation partner at Osler and the firm’s National Co-Chair, practices out of both the Vancouver and Calgary offices. She is an alumna of Queen’s University and the University of Calgary Faculty of Law and previously served as the Managing Partner of Osler’s Calgary office from 2011 to 2017.
Maureen is a trusted advisor to significant corporate clients and represents their interests in virtually every province and court in Canada. She is recognized for her leading expertise in “bet the company” litigation including commercial, resource, constitutional, Aboriginal and administrative law. She is a seasoned trial and appeal lawyer with extensive experience in commercial arbitrations (domestic and international) and other forms of dispute resolution. Maureen routinely appears on matters of judicial review, regulatory appeal, and environmental, administrative, constitutional, Charter and Indigenous claims in federal and provincial courts across Canada. Osler is honoured to celebrate Maureen’s induction as a Fellow of the ACTL, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the legal profession and her unwavering commitment to excellence.
About the American College of Trial Lawyers Founded in 1950, the College extends Fellowship by invitation only. Membership is limited to less than 1% of the total population of lawyers in any state or province. The College is dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics, and the administration of justice through education and public statements on important legal issues. It strongly supports the independence of the judiciary, trial by jury, respect for the rule of law, access to justice, and fair and just representation of all parties to legal proceedings.
