Osler named to the Honor Roll of Cybersecurity Law Firms

Apr 27, 2017 2 MIN READ

Osler is proud to be named to the Honor Roll of Cybersecurity Law Firms as highlighted in the recent report, BTI Law Firms Best at Cybersecurity 2017: Corporate Counsel Rank the Law Firms Leading the Charge on Change [PDF] – one of only two Canadian law firms to be recognized in this category. This honour is particularly significant because it is decided based on recommendations from corporate counsel – in other words, our clients. According to BTI Consulting, the firms on the Honor Roll are “strong cybersecurity performers” and are helping to “lead the charge on change in cybersecurity and data privacy issues.” The results are based on 324 in-depth interviews with the highest-ranking legal decision-makers at large organizations with $1 billion or more in revenue and representing more than 15 industry segments.

In its Cybersecurity and data privacy practice overview section, the report describes the leaders that top legal officers and boards have identified as being the most qualified to help them avoid problems and plan for contingencies: “Cybersecurity leaders are proactively taking a ground-up approach. They are starting with hosting client-specific briefings educating clients on the business implications and risks – and then the legal details … The firms with the best understanding of the client, and who communicate cybersecurity risk in business terms, win the work for counselling.”

This is precisely the approach that Osler’s Privacy and Data Management group takes with clients. Osler has the largest team of practitioners who focus on privacy and data management in Canada.
