Osler is pleased to announce that Sander Duncanson has assumed the role of Managing Partner of the firm’s Calgary office, effective January 1, 2025.

Sander has a deep knowledge of both the firm and the Alberta business community, as well as the energy sector. He began his legal career at Osler’s Calgary office 15 years ago as an articling student and has built a highly regarded practice at the firm. As national Co-Chair of Osler’s highly regarded Regulatory, Indigenous and Environmental practice, he specializes in obtaining regulatory approvals for infrastructure and natural resource projects, as well as representing regulated utilities in disputes regarding tolls and tariffs.

Sander acts for project developers and regulated utilities across the country in a variety of industry sectors, including energy, mining and transportation. He will continue his full regulatory practice while fulfilling the role of Calgary Managing Partner.

Sander succeeds Brian Thiessen, KC, who has been Managing Partner of the Calgary Office since 2020.

Brian will continue his practice as an Employment partner throughout 2025, as he runs for mayor of Calgary in the October 2025 municipal elections.
