Osler is proud to announce that our industry-leading Intellectual Property Group has taken top honours in several categories at the Managing IP Americas Awards 2021 . After being shortlisted in an unprecedented number of areas, Osler’s IP lawyers have been recognized as the Copyright Firm of the Year (Canada) and the Patent Contentious Firm of the Year (Canada). John Cotter, partner and Chair of the IP Group, was honoured as the Copyright Practitioner of the Year (Canada).

In addition, the IP Group’s work was recognized for three Impact Cases of the Year: Teva / Apotex Inc. v. Bayer, York University v. Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency and Yves Choueifaty v. Attorney General of Canada.

These remarkable results come on the heels of the IP Group’s recent impressive showing in World Trademark Review and Chambers Canada, and reflect the strength and breadth of Osler’s practice across all disciplines of IP.

Held annually, the prestigious Managing IP Americas Awards identify and honour remarkable achievements and developments in IP practice over the past year and recipients are selected through a rigorous research methodology.

Award winners were announced at a virtual ceremony on April 7, 2021.
