Osler is proud to announce that its Intellectual Property Group has once again been recognized by IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals (the IAM Patent 1000).

Ascending to the Gold tier for Patent Litigation this year, the IAM Patent 1000 remarked that: “Osler Hoskin & Harcourt is going gangbusters in the life sciences right now, securing dozens of client wins and acting on some super-impressive mandates… [and] recently brought home several victories for Teva.”

In the 2021 edition of the prestigious rankings, Osler also earned Silver status in the Patent Prosecution category and is Recommended in the Patent Transactions category.

Partner Brad White, who heads the Patent practice at Osler, earned a Gold ranking in the Patent Litigation category, and Silver for Patent Prosecution. Vincent de Grandpré and Nathaniel Lipkus received Silver for Patent Litigation, Geoff Langen enters the rankings for the first time with a Bronze ranking for Patent Litigation and Lee Webster was placed in the 1st tier for Patent Transactions.

The IAM Patent 1000 described the recent success stories were due in no small part to Brad, commenting that “he runs a top-flight and successful shop [and is] one of Canada’s leading and most respected litigators and deserves only the highest praise.” It was noted that Brad and Nathaniel regularly pair up “to form an unstoppable duo”, with Nathaniel described as being an “accomplished trial lawyer with a keen intellect and a strong team player in complex multi-party proceedings” who is “is always well prepared and super-courteous too”.

Vincent was described as “counsel of choice for complex cases and a smart, strategic lawyer who is very comfortable thinking on his feet”. Lee was noted for “his technical expertise, clear and articulate communication, and attention to detail. In negotiations, he is persuasive, knows how to read the room and asserts himself in a way that gets the conversation back on track. Lee really protects his clients’ best interests and ensures they are protected in both the short and long term”.

These recent accolades continue an outstanding year for Osler’s IP group. At the Managing Intellectual Property America’s Awards in April 2021, Osler won the Patent Contentious and Copyright firm of the year awards for Canada, and was further recognized for its role in two patent Impact Cases of the Year, and a major copyright case. John Cotter was recognized as Copyright Practitioner of the Year for Canada.
