On May 4, 2026, PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. (PwC) was appointed as receiver to the assets of the ESF Group under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and initiated recognition proceedings in the United States pursuant to Chapter 15 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.

Following its appointment as receiver, PwC negotiated and finalized a transaction for the acquisition of Bestar’s manufacturing facility, equipment, inventory, intellectual property and key customer contracts. The transaction also notably secured the continued employment of over 150 employees in the Lac-Mégantic region. The Québec Superior Court issued the approval and vesting order on May 13, 2026, and the transaction closed on May 15, 2026.

Bestar Inc. (Bestar) and its affiliates (collectively, the eSolutions Furniture Group or ESF Group) are a leading North American manufacturer of ready-to-assemble office furniture known for innovative designs and e-commerce expertise.

Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP advised PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. in its capacity as court-appointed receiver with a team consisting of Sandra Abitan, Jack M. Little and Catherine Saya (Insolvency and Restructuring).
