Canada’s import ban on goods produced by forced or child labour, introduced in 2020 and expanded by the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, which came into force this year, has significant implications for the energy sector, especially for importers and project owners.

This webinar will provide an overview of the legal framework and enforcement mechanisms of the ban, as well as the potential risks and mitigation strategies for energy companies. It will also discuss the impact of trade remedies, such as anti-dumping and countervailing duties, on energy-related imports from the US and other countries. The presentation will draw on the latest legal developments, and CBSA and Public Safety Canada guidance, to offer practical advice and best practices for compliance and due diligence in the energy supply chain.
