Asha Nenshi Nathoo is a summer student at Osler’s Calgary office and a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. She has an interest in labour & employment law, litigation, and legal research & writing.
At the University of Toronto, Asha serves as a volunteer at the Downtown Legal Services clinic. She conducts phone intake to assist diverse populations in navigating complex legal systems. In this role, she also conducts legal research and assists with client matters related to immigration and refugee law.
Asha was selected as a member of the University of Toronto Baby Gale Moot Team. She gained valuable advocacy experience arguing the constitutional, criminal law case of of R v IM 2025 SCC 23 in front of justices and lawyers where she contributed to UofT Law’s top overall team award. This past year, Asha was the 1L Representative on the South Asian Law Students’ Association where she organized and facilitated events that explored inclusion in the legal profession.
Prior to law school, Asha completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a Certificate in Global Citizenship & Pluralism at the University of Calgary. She also spent three summers working as a Student Analyst in the Inclusion & Reconciliation Department at ATB Financial. In this role, Asha executed inclusion assessments and bias mitigation, developed governance infrastructure for employee resource groups, implemented the Humans of ATB project, and designed a rotational program to increase Indigenous representation in the organization.
Asha’s background in policy, governance, and community work informs her people-centered approach to legal issues and advocacy for the best interests of clients.
