Essence has completed her second year of the JD program at the University of Ottawa. While in law school, Essence was an assistant editor for the Ottawa Law Review and a member of the University of Ottawa Black Law Students Association Communications Committee. Prior to law school, Essence obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph, with a major in Criminal Justice and Public Policy.
