Jordan Stein is a summer student in Osler’s Calgary office and a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law. He has an interest in corporate and commercial litigation, regulatory matters, commercial contracts, and complex legal research and writing.
Before joining Osler, Jordan gained legal research experience in private practice, where he did contract review, researched emerging legal issues involving artificial intelligence, blockchain, and smart contracts, and helped update university-level legal course materials through case law and statutory research on tort liability, human rights, and privacy law. He also worked in procurement at the Alberta Energy Regulator, where he reviewed contracts and public bid submissions and informed development of procurement policy.
At the University of Calgary, Jordan serves as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Alberta Law Review and Vice President – Internal of the Society of Law Students. He has also developed advocacy experience through Student Legal Assistance, mooting, and trial advocacy competitions. Through Student Legal Assistance, Jordan assisted with client matters and appeared as an agent in the Alberta Court of Justice. His advocacy experience includes the Adam F. Fanaki Competition Law Moot, the William McGillivray Moot, and the BLG Trial Competition.
Before law school, Jordan completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in Supply Chain Management at Mount Royal University. His business background informs his practical approach to legal issues involving commercial, regulatory, and operational considerations.
