Kyle Abrey

Kyle is an Associate Director of Osler Works – Transactional, a service that uses cutting-edge technology, streamlined processes and skilled legal professionals to support our deal teams and clients largely in the context of transactions. He oversees a team of lawyers and paralegals in connection with negotiating and closing financing transactions.

Kyle has over 10 years of experience advising clients in the financial services industry. He worked as a corporate and financial services associate with CMS in Edinburgh, which included secondments to a professional regulatory body in Brussels, focusing on European Union law, and to Standard Life, assisting with a corporate acquisition. Most recently, prior to returning to private practice with Osler, Kyle was at HSBC Bank Canada supporting commercial lending transactions and served as in-house counsel to Royal Bank of Canada advising its wealth management business.

  • Advised a Canadian financial institution’s foreign branches on the cross-border offering of products and services to accredited investors in Canada and represented them in filings to Provincial securities regulators
  • Represented a Canadian bank on its proposed acquisition of a UK private banking business
  • Represented a global financial institution in its acquisition of an investment platform for advisers from a French multi-national company
  • Acted for a global asset manager in its acquisition of a UK broker-dealer business
  • Represented a large UK charity’s interest in a successful multi-million pound share issue
  • Represented a UK bank in the successful sale of its interests in a private equity fund to a family office in China
