Shelby is an associate in Osler’s Disputes group and the Regulatory, Indigenous and Environmental group. She maintains a specialized litigation and commercial practice, advising clients on complex environmental disputes, Indigenous law issues and regulatory matters.
Shelby’s Indigenous law practice focuses on consultation and accommodation of Indigenous groups in connection with major natural resource and infrastructure projects. She advises project proponents on the duty to consult, develops Indigenous consultation policies and reports, and guides clients through regulatory approval processes affecting Aboriginal rights and interests.
In her environmental practice, Shelby assists clients in regulatory enforcement matters, advises on environmental compliance obligations, and represents clients in contaminated sites disputes and cost recovery actions.
Shelby serves as the Associate Lead of Osler’s Indigenous Professionals Network and is a key contact for Osler’s Indigenous Law Blog and Indigenous Insights Webinar.
She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa. Before law school, she graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours), majoring in Environmental Science. Shelby started as a summer student at Osler in 2022 and completed her articles with the firm in 2023-2024.
