Brett Anderson

Brett Anderson is an experienced mergers and acquisitions lawyer who advises public companies, private equity and infrastructure sponsors, Canadian pension plans, and other institutional investors on complex, high-stakes transactions.

His practice focuses on public and private M&A, private equity and infrastructure investments, and other transformative corporate matters across a broad range of industries, including telecom, infrastructure, financial services, real estate, technology, mining, energy, consumer products, and entertainment.

With deep private equity expertise, Brett advises sponsors and sophisticated investors on control and minority investments, co-investments, and preferred equity structures, often in multi-jurisdictional, auction-driven, and time-sensitive transactions. He regularly advises on privatizations, cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships, bringing a pragmatic, commercially focused approach to deal execution and risk management.

Brett also advises Canadian and international companies on securities law and corporate governance, working closely with boards and management teams on governance best practices, and transaction-related securities matters, including in contested or accelerated scenarios.

Prior to joining Osler, Brett practiced at another leading Toronto law firm, where he focused on private company M&A and fund formation. He holds a J.D. and an M.B.A. from Queen’s University, earning medals for highest standing in the M.B.A. program and third highest standing in law, and graduated first in his electrical engineering class.
