As a testament to the firm’s dedication to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt LLP is honoured to once again be named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers.
“Osler is committed to fostering a workplace that embraces the diversity of talent and encourages each of our firm members to achieve their goals and contribute to the success of our clients, our firm and our communities,” says Shuli Rodal, Osler’s Diversity Committee Chair, partner and Chair of the Competition/Antitrust and Foreign Investment Group. “We continued to move forward last year with a range of activities and programs to foster a work environment that embraces these values.”
Osler was recognized by Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for our internal and external diversity initiatives including our Legal Professional Resource Groups and Regional Diversity Committees in Calgary, Montréal and Vancouver, which are driven by our people and supported by leadership. Osler has also provided the Advancement of Women Lawyers program since 2020 to help ensure that more women are admitted into partnership. Through mentoring, coaching and training, half of all senior women associates in the first year of the program are now partners.
Osler also supports alternative pathways to parenthood, with enhanced fertility benefits for drugs and treatment options. Associates can also ease the transition back to practice with the firm’s longstanding buddy program. This program offers new parents additional guidance and support before, during and after parental leave to help them stay connected to Osler activities.
Osler also supports employees transitioning in the workplace with coverage of gender affirming care, formal practices to support dressing in alignment with gender identity, as well as name and pronoun changes, and individualized communication plans to share the news with co-workers and clients with support of firm management, human resources and legal talent staff.
