On August, 21, 2020, the province of Nova Scotia awarded EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare the $260 million contract to design, build, finance and maintain (DBFM) the Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre. The Centre involves construction of a 134,000 sq.ft. outpatient facility and associated site works located on a 15-acre site in the Bayers Lake Business Park located in Halifax. The project is the first P3 healthcare project in Nova Scotia and one element of the broader QEII New Generation Project, a large-scale, phased, multi-year program that will redesign and build healthcare infrastructure in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
