The event will be held at our Montréal office on June 17, 2025, bringing together industry leaders, investors and innovators shaping the future of the energy transition. Panel discussions include the following:

Keynote speakers

Our Special Advisor Pierre Fitzgibbon and Hugo-Pierre Gagnon, co-lead partner of our Electric Vehicle Supply Chain and E-Mobility practices, will analyze the political and strategic stakes, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities for Québec businesses, in the context of the current green energy transition.

Critical minerals: building the foundation

Led by the Co-Chair of Osler’s Mining Group, Alan Hutchison, this panel will explore strategies for unlocking investment and development of critical mineral projects in Québec. The panel will feature Didier Arseguel, Vice President of Technology at Rio Tinto; Marc Morgenthau, Managing Director at BMO Capital Markets; Simon Thibault, EV Critical Materials Leader at General Motors; and Brian Ostroff, Chief Executive Officer at Arianne Phosphate Inc., to offer perspectives from major producers, junior miners, capital providers and strategic investors.

Electrification tech IP: from lab to market

Led by Osler’s Emerging and High Growth Companies Group partner Jean-Nicolas Delage, this panel will examine how Canada can better commercialize its electrification tech innovations and build successful ventures around IP. He will be joined by Karim Zaghib, Professor of Chemical and Materials Engineering, at Concordia University and Chief Executive Officer at Volt-Age; Richard Chénier, Chief Executive Officer at Québec Tech; Sam Ramadori, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Brainbox; and Dr. Duncan Stewart, Partner with the Deep Tech venture fund at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).

The event promises to be dynamic and interactive as participants discuss public policies and laws that will help to unlock Québec’s potential for being a critical mineral and electrification tech powerhouse.
