Andree’s practice is focused on advising hospitals, health organizations and health professionals in the management of clinical and corporate risk and the defence of complex medical-legal matters. For 15 years, she has specialized in all facets of health law affecting hospitals and health professionals, including hospital privileges and complaints, health privacy and data protection, governance, medical negligence, and health professional regulation.
Prior to joining Osler, Andree was a partner at a national firm where she defended physicians and acted as General Counsel to the national physician defence organization in many significant health law cases across Canada. She also has experience engaging with stakeholders to advocate on behalf of clients in the development of regulated health professions policies and guidelines.
As a trusted advisor, Andree has acted as litigation counsel at the trial and appellate levels and has appeared before hospital medical advisory committees, hospital boards of directors, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, and various committees of professional regulatory bodies.
Andree is an executive member of the National Health Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association and is a lecturer in the Osgoode Hall LL.M. Information Technology and Privacy in Health Law course. She is a former co-editor of the Electronic Healthcare Law Review and has authored several articles on privacy and health law matters.
Andree actively supports the work of local charitable organizations. She spearheaded an annual firm holiday gift drive for children in the care of the Children’s Aid Society, supporting hundreds of children. Andree previously sat on the organizing committee for the annual Ronald McDonald House charity golf tournament. For many years, she has been actively engaged in student recruitment initiatives and mentoring associates and summer law students.
