Ilia Kravtsov

Ilia is cross-appointed to the Insolvency & Restructuring and the Disputes Departments. His practice involves corporate, commercial and civil litigation, with a particular focus and expertise on restructuring and insolvency and extraordinary proceedings. Ilia regularly represents debtors, creditors and appointed court officers in restructuring and insolvency matters before the courts. He is regularly called upon to enforce and provide advice regarding rights of lenders and other secured creditors. Ilia also represents a wide range of national and foreign clients in disputes involving complex commercial and contractual issues, including in the field of commercial real estate.

He has appeared before every level of court in Québec, and before the Commercial List in Ontario. Ilia is recognized by his clients for his leadership and his practical and strategic advice. Ilia’s strong vulgarization skills led him to speak at numerous insolvency and restructuring conferences and to teach civil evidence at the École du Barreau du Québec. He is fluent in English, French and Russian (view Ilia’s Russian LinkedIn profile). Ilia is heavily involved in the restructuring community and the legal community generally, through his active participation in several associations and committees, including the Canadian Bar Association, the Turnaround Management Association, the Advocates’ Society and the Equivalence committe of the Barreau du Québec. Ilia is also committed to helping the immigrant community through his pro-bono work with the Centre d'appui aux communautés immigrantes (CACI). Before his legal studies, Ilia worked in a molecular mycology research laboratory, where he co-authored several publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. His experience in science helps Ilia to resolve the most complex legal issues with a logical and cartesian approach.
