Olivia Dixon is a corporate and commercial litigation lawyer with a primary focus on energy litigation, construction litigation and international commercial arbitration.

In her energy litigation practice, Olivia's experience includes complex contractual disputes involving leases, ownership interests, operating agreements and processing agreements. Olivia's construction litigation experience includes dealing with construction bonds (performance, bid and labour and materials bonds), and disputes that arise in the course of construction, such as scope changes and schedule changes. Finally, with respect to her international commercial arbitration practice, Olivia has experience in conducting arbitrations held under the auspices of the UNCITRAL Model Law and Arbitration Rules.

Olivia has appeared before the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench and in various alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including domestic and international arbitration and mediation.  

Prior to joining Osler, Olivia articled and practised with another prominent national law firm.

    • Acted for an oil and gas company in a confidential contractual dispute regarding an offshore oil project, which was conducted under the auspices of the UNCITRAL Model Law and Arbitration Rules;
    • Acted for the sellers of a privately-held corporation in a complex contractual claim involving alleged breaches of various representations and warranties arising from a multi-million dollar purchase and sale transaction;
    • Acted in a lengthy trial involving a variety of complex property, contractual and other issues relating to the enforcement of a conservation easement agreement registered against private lands located in Alberta;
    • Acted in various disputes, both litigated and arbitrated, involving major domestic and international construction projects and claims for delay and cost overruns;
    • Acted in a confidential commercial arbitration involving a landlord/tenant dispute;
    • Advised a variety of individual clients on professional negligence and other administrative law issues;
    • Advised a variety of commercial clients in numerous contractual disputes.
