On May 8, 2017, Raquel Urtasun, an Associate Professor from the University of Toronto, joined Uber Inc. Professor Urtasun, known for conducting world-leading research on self-driving vehicles, will bring Uber’s first international research lab to Toronto and will head up self-driving efforts in Canada.
Uber will also invest $5 million over a number of years into the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Toronto, which Urtasun helped found.
